Poor Richard's Almanack.
It might be interesting to consider the genre of the almanack--meant to be a useful compendium of information, and including, often, maxims or proverbs. It shows the embedding of proverbial lore in everyday life. How different are B. Franklin's proverbs from those we have seen from medieval and renaissance Spain?
